Tips for Spring Cleaning your RV

One of the most wonderful things about spring? Spring cleaning! Ok, maybe everybody doesn’t love spring cleaning but there is something to be said for a warm spring day and cool breeze, opening the windows and spring cleaning. Don’t forget to show your RV some love this spring too. When it comes to spring cleaning your RV we have a few tips on how to make the most of your spring cleaning so your rig is clean and ready for your next adventure!

Interior

The first spaces you will want to start with are the high traffic areas, namely the bathroom and the kitchen.

Bathroom:

  • Shower-Spray a special shower cleaning spray and let it sit while you clean the rest of your bathroom. Take care to avoid cleaners with bleach as they can degrade the seals around your tanks over time.
  • Toilet- Use a toilet bowl cleaner and allow to sit and use disinfectant wipes for the exterior parts including the floors around the toilet.
  • Throw away old cosmetics, hygiene products and medications.
  • Clean counters, sinks, and mirrors.

Kitchen:

  • Clean the inside of your oven with an oven cleaner (some recommend letting sit overnight or preheating beforehand. Check individual cleaners for specific instructions)
  • Go through the cupboards or pantry and clean out items past their expiration date.
  • Clean out the fridge using warm soapy water. Take all the food and condiments off each shelf.
  • If you have hardwood floors mop with a disinfectant cleaner or if you have carpets consider having them shampooed.

Bedroom:

  • Trade out heavy blankets and sheets for lighter comforters and sheet sets.
  • Dust curtains with a vacuum cleaner or if detachable throw them in the washer and let them air dy.
  • Change the batteries in your fire and carbon monoxide detectors.

General Living Area’s:

  • Use a microfiber cloth to dust corners and surface and spaces like behind your TV and around your vents.
  • Shake out rugs outside.
  • Vacuum couch cushions.
  • Dust curtains and blinds.
  • Wash windows

Exterior

Once you’ve thoroughly dusted, scrubbed, and disinfected your coach’s interior don’t forget about the exterior! Make sure you use a commercial auto cleaning product that is safe for your RV’s interior, since some cleaners can strip the wax.
