The spring travel season is upon us and we all know what that means, thousands of young people migrating to all the beaches and other popular locals and partying. For some spring break is amazing, but for others it can be annoying. Fear not though! Below you will find five hidden wonders within the great state of Texas, that could make for an excellent and relaxing RV getaway.

  1. A Truly ROCKing Place

Our first destination is found about two hours north west of Austin, in a town called Fredericksburg. Enchanted Rock State Park is home to a geological wonder and also has plenty of things to see and do! What makes Enchanted Rock "enchanted" is that the mound of rock makes noises as the temperature changes and the rock appears to sparkle in the evening. Besides hiking enchanted rock, visitors can also: backpack, rock climb, bird watch, and stargaze. The average temperature for this time of year is upper 60s to mid 70s, perfect weather for us Texans. While you can't stay in your RV at the state park, there are a couple of RV parks about 30 minutes away. This is a popular time of year for them, so schedule your trip today!

      2. For the Fisherman in Us All

Next stop, is about an hour south east of Austin and is the perfect spot for any fisherman. Buescher State Park is located in Smithville, Texas and is a beautiful park full of a trees and a stocked lake and a place to park your RV! At Buescher you can go fishing, biking, hiking, and non-motorized boating. You can't currently swim in the lake at Buescher but a little up the road at Bastrop State Park, there is a swimming pool that is open during this time of year. During the upcoming weeks temperatures will be in the upper 60s with hints of rain. If you are looking for the perfect fisherman's getaway, than Buescher is where you definitely want to be!

      3. The Canyons Are Calling

This stunning location is two hours south east of Amarillo and if the scenery doesn't take your breath away, the critters that call this place home definitely will! I can only be talking about Caprock Canyons State Park in Quitaque, Texas! This park has everything from hiking and mountain biking to swimming, fishing, and bison/bat watching! This the best rated state park on this list and in order to know why, you will have to just go and explore it yourself. RVs are welcome in this state park, as well as their owners! The temperature will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s most of this month, which is great weather for exploring! Purchase your day pass today or make a trip of it and let the canyon take all your cares away!

      4. Follow your Arrow Wherever It Points

This fun filled water stop is sure to make everyone in your family happy. Located just two and a half hours north west of Dallas, Lake Arrowhead State Park in Wichita Falls, Texas, is a great spot to park your RV and just jump on in! What all can you do at this 15 mile long lake? There is swimming, water skiing, fishing, boating, hiking, and disc golf. The average temperature is somewhere between the upper 50s and lower 60s, might seem chilly but with the sun shining, the water should be just right. Lake Arrowhead is perfect for anyone wanting to take in the sun and take a dip in the water, without having to deal with the swarms of people that will be all over the Texas coast line. Grab your family and head on out to what is bound to be an unforgettable vacation!

      5. The Sandy Beach with No Ocean

Our final stop is just an hour south west of Midland and is sure to fulfill your sand quota for your break! Monahans Sandhills State Park is in Monahans, TX and it is 3,840 acres of sandy fun! Save your RV spot on the site and then spend the day exploring the sand dunes and in the evening enjoy watching the sunset behind those sandy peaks. The temperature is typically between the upper and lower 70s, so make sure to pack some sunscreen and lots of water. Enjoy your time in the sun and just think about all the sand you will get to take home as a souvenir, on purpose or on accident!
