Handy tips for helping you successfully maintain your investment and protect your RV.

  • Inspect your RV’s roof on a regular basis and check the roof seals and seams. Check your owner’s manual for what type of sealant is safe to use and compatible for the material of your roofs RV. We did a whole blog post on caring for your RVs roof and you can find it here (insert link).
  • Check your RVs batteries. The goal for an RV’s battery is to keep it fully charged at all times.
  • Keep your RVs brakes maintained. Maintain the wheel bearings and make sure your brakes don’t need to be replaced. Taking your RV for regular service and maintenance will ensure you don’t. run into bigger problem when you’re on the road.
  • For RVs it’s recommended you change the oil every 3,000-4,000 miles or every year- spring is a great time. Another great reason to bring your RV in for regular service and maintenance! If you don’t change the oil on your RV it will cause excessive wear and tear on the engine.
  • Check the tire pressure. Before every road trip measure tire pressure to ensure you have a safe trip. Overinflated tires may explode, and underinflated tires can cause more resistance on the road.
  • Keep your RVs awning maintained. Keep your RVs awning clean so you don’t get mildew and mold buildup.
  • Keep water systems in good working condition. Maintenance of your RVs water system includes using the right chemicals designed for each system. Use adequate amounts of fluid after flushing and make sure you flush the system on a regular basis. Without proper maintenance the system will build up and cause a clogging of the system.
  • Replace air, coolant, and hydraulic filters in your RV. Just like the oil needs to be changed on a seasonal basis so do the air filter, fuel filter, and coolant and hydraulic filters at every oil change. Similarly, to the oil change if you don’t practice proper maintenance you could cause excessive tear on the RVs engine.
