Getting ready to hit the open road this spring? Before you do, you’ll need to prep your RV for the warm weather and ensure it hasn’t been damaged by the harsh elements of the winter season. For tips on how to get your RV ready for the season, check out our maintenance guide below.

Inspect Your RV

To begin, we recommend heading inside your RV to check that electrical components—such as light switches and outlets—are working correctly. Afterward, open up your model's doors and windows and allow your RV to air out while you inspect the exterior of your rig for any holes that may need to be patched. If there aren’t any repairs to be made, we recommend applying some weather stripping to your doors and windows before you finish up.

Cleaning Your RV

While the interior of your RV may only need some light dusting, your exterior will need a deep clean in order to avoid left-on mud and debris from causing rust to appear on your model. After your RV is washed and dried, be sure to apply wax and polish to protect your model from the sun and inclement weather. Once your exterior is clean, move on to dumping, rinsing, and refilling your water tanks. Make sure to run your water pump for a few minutes to flush out any leftover antifreeze that may still be in the system.
