How To RV Fulltime!
Many people find traveling in an RV a form of escapism from the real world. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be on vacation all the time? Maybe being a full time RV enthusiast is the life for you. Just you and your family on the open road, what's better than that? This blog will give you an inside scoop into the highs and lows of RVing full time, keep scrolling to learn more!
The first thing that might make people think twice about hitting the road all the time is the lack of space. For many people who decide to live in their RV full time, they are coming from a regular sized home. There is no way that you can take everything in your home with you, so deciding what to bring with you can be hard and stressful. Luckily, many of the RVs at RVO have amazing storage space, stop in today to see which RV will fit your style!
Another concern is the cost of being on the open road all the time. However, many people who live in their RV all year long, typically find a site to stay at during a couple months of the year. State or national parks are great ideas and getting a Park Pass for the entire year might be something to look into! Remember to try and find RV Parks and not trailer parks because there is a difference.
So you have downsized and figured out where to stay now what? Well, you also have to think about how much gas, food, wifi, and other life essentials will cost. In a blog called Heath and Alyssa they mentioned that they spent a total of $6,000 on gas alone over a 7 month time span. You might end up spending less money on home cooked meals than you do when you are cooking at home, because the limited cooking space means smaller meals. For wifi you can purchase a Wifi Camp-Pro which is a mobile wifi unit specifically for motorhomes and RVs. This handy internet helper retails for about $150. Finally other supplies you probably already have in your home, but the struggle for most is narrowing down pairs of shoes, number of shirts, tools, kitchen supplies, and other homey items. Don't forget weight is everything, so try and limit the amount of unnecessary items you carry with you.
For young couples who decide to try this new lifestyle, many might ask if you can keep up this lifestyle with kids. The answer is yes! Many fifth-wheels and newer models of RVs can sleep up to 4 or 6 people comfortably. The one major downside is more people in an RV, means more stuff. RVs are meant to be something that bring families together, that means it might be a little difficult juggling bathroom time and storage space, but your family will become closer for it.
Alright so you have all of your family members, personal items, and supplies; now how are you going to make money on the road? There are many jobs in today's market that allow employees to work from home. All you will need for that is a strong internet connection, which we've already touched on a couple paragraphs above. Other ways you can make an income while on the road include: making videos of your experience and uploading them to YouTube, start a podcast, or become involved with national and state parks that you stay at. For the national and state parks you will most likely be a park host and your paycheck will cover the cost of your campsite. Learn more about hosting here: Texas Park Host Information
Finally, while on the road it is important to eat healthy and stay active. It's important to eat healthy and take short breaks throughout your travels to stretch your legs. Keep an eye out for our blog in June that will go into greater detail about how to stay happy and healthy while RV living.
