Road trips always seem like a good idea, but sometimes they can end up being a little frustrating. You get lost, the place you stopped for lunch wasn’t any good, etc. To help make the road trip planning easier for you this year we’ve compiled a list of awesome road trip apps for you to use in 2020 to make your travels easier and more enjoyable!

Road Trip Planner Apps and Tools

Some of these apps may already be on your phone and are more useful than you know!

Google Maps. Most of us have used google maps to route us to a new destination or look up how to go to a friend’s house or see how long it will take us to get somewhere, but it is also a great visual guide for seeing the places you want to visit then planning a route. (This app is free)

Co-Pilot. This app works on ipads or phones with GPS and will let you input the dimensions of your vehicle so you can avoid streets or bridges that may be too narrow for your camper or trailer.( This app is free but offers additional features for a nominal fee)

 • Pinterest. You may already be using this app to pin recipes, but it is also an amazing destination guide, place to search for things to do (by city, state, country, etc.) as well as find reviews. (This app is free)

FoodTripping. The food tripping app will give you better options for healthier local foods, so you are not limited to only eating junk food on the road. The options are focused on organic coffee shops, microbreweries, and farmers markets. (This app is free)

Instagram. This is the app to use if you are on the hunt for the most photo worthy spots and secret locations. Beautiful places are shared every day and you can search for destinations by hashtag.(This app is free)

RoadTrippers App. This app is a must have for planning your route and receiving suggestions along the way. You can select the category for what kind of stops you are wanting to make (food, entertainment, shopping, etc.). ( This app is free but offers additional features for a nominal fee)

 • GasBuddy. If you want to find the cheapest gas along your route, then this is the app for you! (This app is free)
